Homeownership Fairs

On Saturday, March 22, 2025, we hosted a homeownership fair in Northeast Philadelphia at the Bustleton Learning Center. Over 100 people showed up to learn more about homeownership resources! We have other resource events planned throughout the city and in Delaware County this year. Why do we do it and how can you join the next one?

The homeownership fairs we host and other resource fairs we attend are outreach efforts. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has set guidelines that require housing counseling agencies, like AHCOPA, to participate in outreach efforts. HUD guideline explains “The purpose of hosting community events is to actively reach residents where they live”. We decided to host homeownership resource fairs in neighborhoods that are historically overlooked.

When organizing a fair, we connect with local leaders and organizations to develop an event that best serves the community’s needs. For our Northeast Homeownership Fair, we partnered with the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation to organize the event. On Saturday, the Register of Wills, Pennsylvania Health & Wellness, and various lenders that provide homebuyer assistance programs were present.

​Fair attendees can gather resource information and connect with providers. The fairs create a unique opportunity to ask questions and get answers from professionals in real-time. The feedback we received on Saturday, and at previous outreach events, was overwhelmingly positive. This motivates us to continue developing and ​attending outreach events.
